Ed Phillips began writing his Arizona Almanac for KOY Radio in 1980 where it was published for three years. When Ed went to Newsradio 620 KTAR in 1983, the almanac was expanded and a full color cover added. The Almanac was published by Ed and KTAR through 2002. It was the longest continuously published weather almanac by a radio station in the the United States. Up to 80,000 copies of the Almanac were printed in some years and that brings the total number of copies in print to over 1,000,000!
Ed began his Arizona Almanac Radio Show in 2004 to again highlight "The way of life called Arizona". But still, folks wanted the printed Almanac to return. So, when Ed and his wife Anne opened their coffee shop and Internet cafe "Weather & Coffee" in 2005, one of their goals was to bring back the Almanac.
In 2006 the Ed Phillips Arizona Almanac began being published twice a year. It is again distributed free through the participating advertisers and "Weather & Coffee".
