Oasis in the desert!
While on my search for a decent (dare I say world-class?) espresso in N. Phx, I stopped into this place when it was under its former ownership. I remember thinking, "Nice tables, atmosphere, location--too bad the coffee's mediocre." I'll sit in a warehouse, as long as you give me that elusive-thing-of-beauty-in-a-cup. Suffice it to say I only went once. I was happy therefore, when I recently drove past and saw the phrase "Hand-crafted espresso." I went in and noticed the same tables, same nice atmosphere, but when I tried a double macchiato lovingly prepared by the new owner, I knew I had arrived. I don't live particularly close by, but I'll make the drive every time for this cup. Thanks for being an oasis in the the formerly dry desert of decent espresso.

Very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. The coffee is made as custom to your taste as you wish. They do not make the fastest cup of coffee in twon but they make it as good as it gets.

Starbucks may have re-invigorated the local coffee house concept, but Beans Books and Barks is a genuine warm and friendly neighborhood spot. No wonder more and more patrons are becoming regulars. It's a gem!

I go into this place a few times every week nowadays, even though I somewhat recently got a french press. I love the atmosphere, and everyone working always recognizes me and calls me by name. On top of that, the coffee is delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants great coffee served by extremely nice people. I don't have a dog, but if I did, I would take it here all the time once the little dog patio thing gets finished. denryuu3@hotmail.com

Wow!! Located among the cold, ordinary and "underwhelming" coffee houses dominated by corporate influence and make-it-easy-premixed-ingredients, here lies an individual shop percolating with joy, warmth and friendliness. The proprietors, Ronnie and Marilee, have crafted an environment infused with basic principles - quality, simplicity and service - that encourages even the most particular java connoisseur to return to each time they hear the calling for a fantastic coffee house beverage. Visit one time, and you'll be hooked. They're pet friendly too!! spierce262@hotmail.com

If you enjoy being overcharged for a large cup of bitter coffee with soy milk, oh, I mean, a Venti decaf Terraza Blend soy latte, in a cookie-cutter atmosphere where the baristas (whatever) are super nice to you until the tip you leave is your change of 96 cents instead of a dollar bill, then Beans Books Barks is not the place for you. However, if you want a good cup o’ joe without having to take out a second mortgage or learn another language, and you like your coffee served with genuine customer service and a smile go to BBB. If you want to leave a tip to show your appreciation, your hard earned money will be donated to a local animal rescue organization. So, enjoy that cup of coffee and know that you’ve done something good for a furry friend in need. Hillbeth@hotmail.com

This is a very nice, warm, and unique cafe. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. The handcrafted espresso is perfect, and the books are plentiful. The pastries are delicious especially the brown sugar coffee cake. They also have flavorful smoothies, hot chocolate, and great hot apple cider. The dogs love the treats from Tail Wagg'n Barkery and the dog water. The baristas are the best and always have a kind word and a smile. This is a MUST visit.

Wonderful, wonderful place -- the books-and-coffee setting is very warm and inviting, the coffee is made with great craft and care, and the whole staff feels like family from day one. The analogy to "Cheers without the beer" is really very apt -- it's a warm, inviting place where one can enjoy the "instant family" or just curl up with a good book and excellent coffee. Best coffee place I know of anywhere.

Like the television "Cheers," this is a place where "everybody knows your name." The coffee is great, the pastries are tasty, and the atmosphere perfect! And if that's not enough, they raise both awareness and money for dog rescue groups.

So, I was at an Agility trial at PV Park and wanted some coffee. I saw all these fliers about Beans, Books, Barks and decided to go. What a find! It is the kind of place where you would want to go and just hang out with your friends (2 & 4 legged) and enjoy the great coffee and snacks. The dog treats are all natural, so you could eat them too. (Fight the dog for these goodies). Anyway, once the patio is finished, I'm going back with my dogs to enjoy the atmosphere and coffee. Oh, if you are tired of that retail chain bitter coffee, You’ll love Beans, Books, Barks. I forgot how good coffee is suppose to taste. I’m not much of a book nut, but they have quit a few to browse through. It’s a warm, friendly place to go and enjoy
a couple of hours. Oh, try the Mayan Moca!

I was told by a friend about this coffee shop. I do decaf only, and their coffee is great! As well as their smoothies, deserts and sandwhiches. I like that I can bring my dog and have coffee, read and or relax. The decor is very comfortable and homey feeling. There is a wide variety of used books to select from to purchase as well. The staff is always very pleasent!!! and even FUN!
If you haven't been here yet, ya HAVE to GO!
Oh I forgot... my dog LOVES their dog treats they also have for sale.

I love this place! It is unique and a much welcomed addition to the neighborhood. The combination of Coffee, Books and Dogs is perfect for me. They make awesome drinks (Be sure to try the Mayan Mocha-a sweet and savory treat!) and the pastries are great (You must succumb to the Brown Sugar Coffee Cake it is divine!). The staff is friendly, fun and helpful which is quite refreshing. The book selection is excellent and I manage to find a treasure every time I visit. They have free WiFi, as well, which is always a plus.
I can’t wait to bring my dog and hang out on the patio when it’s up and running. The weather is just starting to turn so that will provide a lovely atmosphere. My dog is hooked on the all-natural dog treats they sell there and I can’t seem to replenish them fast enough for her needs. I got the memo she put out awhile back that let me know that it was all about her needs you see. Thankfully this place arrived just in time to help me out with both of our needs. One-stop shopping! ;-) Seriously, you must check this little gem out-it really does rock!
