A Canine Academy Intl Dog Training

Joann Bluth is our wonderful trainer who has been helping us train our 7 month old Rottweiler Ruby Sue since she was about 12weeks old. She is very patient with our dog and with us! We have learned so much from her and she has given us many skills to work with Ruby on our own. I feel very confident with her training and I know that our dog will be very well trained with her help. I would recommend her to anyone that needs a great dog trainer. Thanks Joann!!

Joann was just great-- exactly what we needed. More than anything else, she taught us how to better relate to our dog. How to communicate in a way she understands. From that, we've been able to do so much with a lot less effort than we've done in the past. The whole process was extremely helpful.

Joann knows her stuff. She was very impressive with the knowledge she brought and the training she gave to my goldendoodle. I will highly recommend her to my family and friends in the future.

We wholeheartedly recommend A Canine Academy and Joann Bluth. Her training methods go far beyond anything you will find at a Petsmart or Petco. As well as teaching necessary commands, she teaches the owners how to improve their own skills to make happier dogs. Joann came to our home to help us with our two 2-year-old mixed breed pit bulls. Our girl, Phoenix, was so joyful and exhuberant (and uncontrolled) that we couldn't have her around our grandsons. She needed to learn how to calm herself, and we needed to learn how to help her with that. Joann showed us how our demeanor, even our posture, affected our dogs' behavior. Over the course of her training, she took us and our dogs through several commands, and showed us how to interact with our dogs to get the calmness and behavior we wanted. She has a great sense of humor, and she encouraged us all along by telling us that we had really good dogs, something we knew but needed to hear from an expert. As a result of her work with us, we can have both dogs in our house in the company of our two young grandsons. Phoenix is still a joyful and exuberant puppy, but we now know how to behave to help her calm down. We really enjoy having the dogs with us in our home. That first e-mail I sent to Joann was the best thing I could ever have done for our dogs and for ourselves.

Joann totally rocks! We had two puppies who were out of control - chewing, digging under the fence to escape, jumping, howling, peeing in the house....basically running their own pack and ignoring us.
We did a combination of doggy boot-camp at Joann's house and in-home training and were given so many skills from Joann that I feel confident in our ability to have well-behaved dogs now and in the future.
Joann did not use any abusive training techniques, nor bribed them constantly with food (although we do use treats for some of the lessons). Our dogs are well-adjusted and happy and nearly problem free (well, they are still puppies so they get into trouble now and then, but 90% of our their issues are solved).
I highly recommend Joann and would use her again in a heartbeat!

Our dog Izzy was a rescue dog and had some emotional issues which left her very anxious and nervous. We sent her to Joann's boot camp which significantly improved her confidence. Joann has significant patience and a no quit attitude. Thanks Joann!

JoAnn helped me with my 5yr old and 2yr old Cairn Terriers. I had done the PetSmart group classes, and my dogs learned to only listen to me if I was feeding them. JoAnn trained me how to be a better pack leader and my dogs responded quickly and wonderfully. My dogs are both intelligent so I figured they would pick up the lessons well, but I was affraid that in teach them to behave better they would lose some of there personality...not the case at all! So many of the adorable little quarks that make them unique have actually come to the forefront since they are worried about having to be pack leader, and they can just be adorable dogs. It's been about two months since JoAnn and I finished our last session together and the dogs are still behaving great! If you have a wonderful dog(s) that you love and want to make your lives together as enjoyable as possible I would highly recommend dog training with JoAnn!!!

I would highly recommend JoAnn and her dog training service.

At the first session it became very clear that it wasn't just my 3 year old black lab Boston who needed training but me.

It was amazing to watch how Boston responded to JoAnn. The challenge is continuing to reinforce what JoAnn has taught us both.

When I called JoAnn to let her know that I had adopted Cali a female black lab puppy, she also took the time to work with me in training the puppy.

Thank you JoAnn. You're the best!

My husband and I contacted JoAnn after months of struggle with our 1.5 year old shepherd mix, Lily. Our dog had some major anxiety issues, especially when a new person is present in the house. She would also cry in her kennel when she knew you were up and awake in the morning. She was a nightmare to walk, as she could easily drag us down the street. With a baby on the way, we new we had to do something to get this dog in line!

When JoAnn first came to our house, she noticed immediately how stressed and anxious Lily was; she knew exactly how to approach her to make her feel comfortable and was able to build a positive relationship with her in less than 10 minutes. We spent 2 sessions with JoAnn, where she taught Lily (and us) to wait, heel, leave it, leash walking, and reintroduced her to the kennel. After the first session, we noticed a significant amount of improvement in Lily's behavior and mannerisms. She seemed much more calm and relaxed, and obeyed our commands immediately. We could hardly wait to complete the second session!

A week has now passed since our training and Lily is doing great. We continue to work with her using the strategies JoAnn taught us.

Now I have to admit, I was initially a little skeptical about hiring a dog trainer; I had done my fair share of research on training puppies (we got her at 8 weeks) and was convinced I could "fix" her. However, after many failed attempts to correct her behavior and with my due date fast approaching, I decided to let a pro handle it. JoAnn was professional, courteous, and honest. She showed us the proper strategies and offered correction when necessary. She was also kind enough to offer us fewer sessions to help us save a little money. As if a new baby isn't expensive enough, my husband and I are both teachers; our wallets are stretched thin these days, to say the least. We are incredibly grateful that she offered a lesser-price option to us.

We were at our wits end with Lily, but we were not willing to let her go. If you are in a similar situation, please contact JoAnn with your concerns. I cannot recommend her enough to any dog owner who is struggling with their canine companion!

Joann Bluth is a master. She has taught our two dogs the behaviors anyone would want in a pet, but most importent is the dogs have learned self control. One suffered terribly from separation anxiety, and we feared we would not be able to keep him. Boot camp with Joann proved he was salvageable, and he has turned into a well adjusted, happy dog and we're looking forward to many good years with him. She literally saved this little creature's life. You can't believe the difference she can make in your pet's behavior in just a matter of minutes. Her methods are quiet and gentle and she will teach you to become the pack leader. Enjoy your pets to the fullest with her help. You will not be sorry. We are most grateful.

Joann was great. She did an awesome job with my otherwise untrained Maltese. She was kind and gentle with him, and I think he missed her when I got him back. I was amazed at how many things I was doing wrong, trying to make him "happy" in all the wrong ways. Thank you for getting me back on the right track.

I cannot say enough great things about our experience with JoAnn of A Canine Academy Intl Dog Training. With out her help we would not have been able to keep our now wonderful dog Tobi. Our previous dog (RIP sweet girl) was nicknamed "Angel Dog" and the new puppy became known as "El Diablo the Devil Dog" so needless to say we were in WAY over our heads. We were not the best puppy owners/self trainers. Add our inexperience to a very headstrong doberman pup and that equals almost having to re-home our puppy because we could not handle her. After much thought and debate we went hired JoAnn. It was either Boot Camp with JoAnn or it was Craigslist for the dog. Not even kidding. We had done everything we knew how to do. We watched videos even before we brought her home, read books, consulted friends ect. JoAnn was our last resort... now we wish we had gone to her FIRST.

The human experience with JoAnn was above and beyond our expectations. The communication durring the two weeks was outstanding. I knew what was happening with the training as it was happening! What a great learning tool for us. We really felt like JoAnn was family by the time she brought Tobi home. And we still do!

Tobi is progressing wonderfully! She is still a very stubborn and headstrong "tean-ager" but she listens!!! It is an ongoing process that is making Tobi a pleasure to live with. My 2 & 1/2 year old granddaughter is now able to (for the most part) controll Tobi with hand signals and verbal commands. Yes.. 2 & 1/2! My highly intimidated and not so physically strong mother actually enjoys watching Tobi when I travel. I could not leave her with my mother before JoAnn's training. I was actually afraid Tobi would accidentally hurt her with her uncontrollable actions. Now my mom can safely handle Tobi and I don't worry a bit while I am out of town.

I would reccommend JoAnn ten million times over. (She is worth every penny!) She has been such a blessing to our family.

We hired Joann because our Basenji didn't have basic training as well as he was starting to act a little aggressive. As owners we knew we needed to be trained to know how to handle our dog as well. Basenji's are notorious for being difficult to train and we did have some issues. However Joann was able to adapt the lessons to how our dog responded to the training. Joann is a great trainer, so knows many different ways of achieving the goals of the owners. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. She not only trains the dog, she trains the owner how to train the dog. Our Basenji is now 100 times more well trained and even acts calmer (as mentioned by our friends/family).

I have a 3 ½ year old American bull terrier named Fergie. Fergie was a great puppy. I went to group trainings at my local pet store where she was top of her class in all three classes we took. She did fine until about a year ago. Slowly she became aggressive towards bicycles and other dogs. I tried all the tricks I learned in group training as well as what I learned from the dog training TV shows. Nothing worked so I called JoAnn to see if she could help. She was amazing. After her first visit to my house Fergie was already acting calmer. Joann gave me suggestions, homework, and feeding advice. It only took three visits and Fergie was her old self again. On the fourth visit Joann brought her well trained dog Monroe. I walked Fergie right next to her with no aggression whatsoever. I am so grateful that I can now walk Fergie and not have to worry about another dog passing us. I highly recommend JoAnn.

I would like to take this time to thank Joann Bluth at A Canine Academy for her patience in helping me train my dog, a Labrador/pit-bull mix named Diesel. We adopted Diesel at six weeks old and after a year; it was obvious that my attempt at training Diesel has not worked. What I liked about the training provided by A Canine Academy is the approach Joann used as she first gained background and insight on Diesel and the other two dogs I have, my general household, and lifestyle as dog owner. This allowed Joann to analyze and evaluate my technique and skill in training Diesel and provide feedback that was straightforward and honest. However, with the feedback not once did Joann make me feel incompetent. On the contrary, Joann encouraged me throughout the training and I gained confidence especially in my walks with Diesel as they became more restrained and pleasant. I could not ask for a better trainer than Joann, her training skills, knowledge and experience were evident during our training sessions. Joann was able to train Diesel with going in the kennel, heel, wait, stay, lay down, and leave-it. I would recommend Joann and The Doggy Training Academy. Thanks Joann for your help with training Diesel and educating me. ~Rose Downing

JoAnn taught us all that you really CAN teach an old dog new tricks! She did an amazing job with our 9 year old labrador Kodi. JoAnn was at all times patient (both with our dog as well as with us!) and caring. Kodi was so happy to see her each time and looked forward to her visits. On his final lesson, he performed with flying colors. We strongly recommend that if you really are serious about teaching your dog good habits and achieving results, that JoAnn will not disappoint and her time and efforts are well worth the very reasonable fee she charges.

What a difference a good dog trainer makes with a not so obedient dog. Andy made all the difference in the world with our dogs. Molly was hyper active and not obedient at all,now she is such a delight and actually listens to our commands. I am actually proud to say that this very well behaved dog is mine. Andy has taught us how to be a good dog owners. Our deaf dog has learned so much from the training as well. She has calmed down a lot and understands the commands that we give her. We now know how important it is to continue to work with them so that they continue to be well behaved. Thanks so much Andy, it was great working with you---Kelli, Rick and Jennifer

JoAnn has been magic with our dogs. One's older, one is a puppy, and in 5 visits they have both become more obedient, more social, and most importantly, happier than ever! And I don't want to understate the last piece - happier pets! JoAnn's teachings aren't only for the pups, but for the owners, as we have absolutely become better parents and better leaders of the pack. Her advice and education is straight forward yet caring, and she truly takes the time to understand both the dogs and the owners to produce a result that's simply amazing. She's friendly and passionate about ensuring a happy family when she's ready for the final report card. We not only found a dog trainer, but a friend of the family as well. Our pups look forward to her visits as much as we do. You'll notice her immediate and positive impact on your puppies the very first visit. We are so, so thrilled that we found JoAnn and we highly recommend her to any readers, as well as our friends here in the East Valley. JoAnn and her training are worth every penny at twice the price. Thank you JoAnn!

Joann is awesome and trained my two dogs, Sally and Pavel, perfectly. She was extremely patient with Pavel, a 6 month old Cane Corso, who can be a bit slow and stubborn at times. She knew exactly when to lay off of him when he wasn't "up to the task" and just wanted to lay around. We accomplished all of our goals, including being able to walk both of them without dragging me down the street. I couldn't ask for a better trainer. Well worth the money. I recommend Joann to anyone who asks and will continue to do so.

Hi

My name is Ginger, I am a five year old golden retriever. I spent my first four years in Douglas Az where I was an outside dog. My then parents would leave me out there all day with a few toys and a rubber tennis ball for company. I very seldom got to stay in the house with people. I was very shy and very hyperactive 'cause I was so board. In fact I got so obssesed with my ball that I wore all four of my K9 teeth to stumps!

My "family" decided to move and didn't want to take me with them so they gave me up for adoption. I was placed in several foster homes, but none of the people there wanted to keep me 'cause of my shyness and hyperactivity.

One Sunday afternoon a real nice couple named Mike and Cherry came to see me in my foster home. They were very patient with me. They played with me and threw my ball for me and took me for a real walk. It was great! I think I could like these folks. After a while we decided that we might be able to live together and become friends. Later that week, I moved to their home.

I loved my new home and my forever family but I was a little raw when it came to social behavior. My mom and dad had used Jo Ann before to train another family dog that had gone to the rainbow bridge in November. So they called her to come and "civilize" me. She worked with me every week and my mom and dad worked with me between JoAnn's visits.

JoAnn was very kind but firm with me. She made learning fun although I must admit I was a challange when it came to giving up my tennis ball! It was fun to work with JoAnn.

I am now a very good girl. I sit and lay down on command and can go for walks without knocking my somewhat handicapped parents off their feet. I still have some work to do on playing off leash. Remember I have spend 4 years at the end of a leash or confined to a yard. Going to the park and playing with other dogs is a hoot and I don't want to stop.

I would highly recommend JoAnn. She is a fun teacher.

Sincerely

Ginger Marfisi

Andy,
It’s hard to explain how happy Hilo and I are with our dog, Lucy. I particularly enjoy parading her around the Fountain Hills dog park where owners of unruly dogs marvel at Lucy’s obedience and how she seems to enjoy doing what I ask. I’ve given out your cards to those asking how I got these results, but most seem to think that classes at PetSmart are a better “deal”. Well, you do get what you pay for, don’t you? I ask them, if the classes were so good, how come your dog is still unruly? That’s obviously a rhetorical question. They’re all using harnesses with retractable leashes – reminds me of the Popiel Pocket Fisherman. Anyhow, thanks again for providing me with the foundation I needed to get my pooch under control. It’s now a pleasure to be with her.

Regards,

Hello Joann,
I want to express our sincere appreciation for helping us with our
dogs. Although we've had dogs our entire lives, we've never had male
litter mates and really needed help. All the goals we set were exceeded
and our boys are much happier for it. You were professional, prompt,
thorough, and most importantly to us, adapted the sessions to our
situation.

The only change you may consider is the name of your company. At least
based upon our experience, the name 'Academy for Humans who have
Canines' would have more appropriate.

Thanks again and we will keep you posted on our continued progress!

Andy trained our dog, my husband and I in the past month. Fantastic job. In four training sessions, our dog went from uncontrollable to very easily managed, and we are incredibly pleased with the results. Andy gave us the tools we need to manage our dog and have the confidence to be around other animals. For example, our dog pulled terribly on the leash, and would bark and charge at other dogs when we walked her. Now, she does not do that at all. Andy had said he could eliminate pulling on the lease in five minutes, and he was true to his word. His training is effective and requires only that the owner practice what he teaches. Our dog loves him, and his methods are compassionate. Overall, we can give him a "A" rating, worth every penny of the cost.

We called Joann for help after losing total control of our house. Our two labrador retrievers had taken over - chewing on furniture, barking in the middle of thie night, jumping on us and guests, and making our life miserable.

We saw a difference after the first visit. Several visits later, and now we are in total control.

Joann's approach is direct, but with a sense of humor and love for animals. She genuinely loves dogs, and is understanding of owner's failed attempts at getting control. She won't limit the number of visits needed; she will work with you until you feel satisfied that ALL your needs are met. And, she'll even follow-up with you after training is finished to see if you need any refresher.

I would recommend Joann to anyone needing some help with their animals.

We LOVE JoAnn Bluth! She is the “Dog Whisperer” of dog trainers! We learned so much about canines and the way we should be interacting and relating to our family companions. Her first comment to us was that she was going to train us…and that she did. We adopted two puppies from the Arizona Humane Society, they were about 4 months old when JoAnn first came. She said that I was in for a handful, two pups, two kids…well, the pups were so eager to learn that they are just awesome! They took to everything JoAnn taught them and in turn what we continue to teach them to this day. We got so lucky with our pups and finding JoAnn. We have used A Canine Academy now twice and we are completely satisfied. I would recommend JoAnn ten times over…it is the best money we’ve ever spent on our pups! Thank you again JoAnn!

I was looking for a professional dog trainer when I found Jo Ann's website. I emailed her and got a response in a very timely manner. (it took weeks for other people to even email me back) She was professional and always on time for the sessions. I really enjoyed her coming over. My dog's main issue was that he was fearful of people and very timid. He was never agressive which is very odd in a dog that is that scared. He was definetly a tough case and she stuck with us and really helped us get our dog to his stage he is today. Her training costs were reasonable and worth every single penny. I would recommend Jo Ann to anyone with a dog that needs training. Just do what she says and you will see results and you will start to understand how your dog thinks. Also she is very knowledgable about anything else that a dog needs like grooming, toys and food.

JoAnn helped me work through puppy training as I had never owned a puppy before. My husband and I had purchased a 2 month old labradoodle and immediately I realized I was in over my head. My concern was that I also had a toddler at home and wanted to make sure I was able to handle them both. Right off the bat, JoAnn brought over items of great use to my sanity. Being able to use those items temporarily was a life saver. JoAnn took her time with our training as I had a full plate already. She was very flexible and did a great job training ME to train Raven. I would highly recommend the services of her team for any dog training.

Hi Andy and Don,

I had to send an email tonight to thank you again for what you did for Lucy. She is like a different dog! She has been playing tug-o-war with John on the floor, going for walks with him, and we all three took a nap together when we got home. (She was all tuckered out!) I ran out to the store and while I was gone, a census taker came to the door. John said she barked once or twice but when he told her no, she just sat on the couch and watched them talk. Before she would have been hiding under the table and would never have stopped barking. Honestly, it’s like you gave us back a different dog! It brings tears to my eyes to see how happy she is and how much more she is enjoying being with us.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

JoAnn Bluth was our trainer for our female Bernese Mt. dog. Both my husband and I truly enjoyed having her in our home and are most appreciative of her skills. She was able to help us teach our Daisy some good behaviors that she really needed.
JoAnn is a very serious, professional who totally focused on our puppy in a kind and gentle way. She also worked for one of our friends who sings her praises and tells me they can now enjoy their dog and the negative behaviors have disappeared.
We would highly recommend JoAnn to anyone who need assistance with their dog. She is the BEST.

We have a six month old Briard. JoAnn worked with us each week, training on many different skills to ensure the puppy would adapt to our family and exhibit proper social etiquett around other people and animals, regardless of surroundings. Our puppy learned very quickly what was expected of her and eagerly awaited each training session with JoAnn. We are very pleased with the results and recommend A Canine Academy to anyone who is serious about the proper training of their pooch.

When Joann picked up my 11 month old Chihuahua, he had been showing intense anxiety about being outside for months. This anxiety had gotten so bad that he was refusing to eliminate outside. He was also beginning to show signs of aggression towards people he didn't know. Joann stuck with him and didn't give up on him. He's been back from boot camp now for almost 2 weeks and hasn't had an accident inside once! He is a completely different dog than what he had been. He is more happy and comfortable now. The training that Joann gave me is just as important as the training that she gave Guinness. My training will allow me to continue to teach him and keep him happy and secure. I feel like I've made a great investment in a dog that will hopefully be in my life for many many years.

Thanks a million!

JoAnn trained our German Shepherd, Wyatt. Originally, we were just hoping for a well behaved dog that could be trusted around our small children. JoAnn surpassed our expectations and Wyatt became so efficient with his hand signals and training that he is now working as an assistance dog. Great job JoAnn! Clearly, they are doing something right. I would happily recommend any of their services.

I have a Shepherd mix dog that started exhibiting fear aggressive tendencies at as early as 4 mo. of age. I started obedience training with both Pet Co then another professional east valley dog trainer. My dog learned some basic obedience skills but still had the fearful aggression. I called the professional trainer for some additional help and was told it was just the breed of the dog and I’d have to deal with it. Frustrated with that response, I again searched for help with my dog and contacted JoAnn Bluth. JoAnn was honest with me from the beginning explained what she thought she could do to help me. JoAnn trained me as much or more than my dog. She gave me a list of “tools” to buy to help with his training and taught me how to use them. She re-taught me the obedience commands I learned from the other trainer (her ways actually works!). She gave me homework and evaluated my proficiency and provided correction where necessary. Her insight to our problem was that I hadn’t established myself as the pack leader so he was trying to fill that role. It’s been a month since my last meeting with JoAnn and I still see daily improvement in my dog’s attentiveness to me less to his fear triggers. JoAnn has amazing skills with the dogs.

JoAnn was absolutely fabulous and thoroughly enjoyed having her help train us as well as our Chesapeake Bay Retriever pup. JoAnn was prompt, attentive, answered any and all questions and bonded extremely well with my dog. She made excellent recommendations on healthy treats and bones, taking proper steps to puppy proof our home, and a healthy food that my canine enjoys. Not to mention my puppy is about 8 months old and is behaving extremely well for such a young age. I highly recommend Canine Academy and love the fact that the commands my dog has learned are guaranteed for the life of my pet and if there is any issues JoAnn will come to the rescue. I give this company 5/5 stars are recommend them to any and everyone.

My husband and I own two young German Shepherds named Rudy and Lola. We purchased them about a year apart, after the deaths of our two old dogs. To say that we’d forgotten how much work (and fun) young dogs are would be an understatement! We tried several different training methodologies before contacting JoAnn Bluth. I have to say that she made a huge difference in all of our lives. She was extremely patient with us and the dogs loved working with her. Having her come to our house for training was great for us, since it allowed us to really learn a technique and ask as many questions as we wanted. We do take the dogs to doggie day care a couple of times a week, and they’re quite social. Group training, especially clicker training, was much too chaotic for me.

Rudy is a pretty calm dog, but he was seriously obsessed with the sliding glass door and our neighbor’s wall. We couldn’t go into the backyard without him almost running us over trying to get outside. Rudy now waits at the door and will even lie down with the door open.

Before we worked with JoAnn, Lola was developing a serious case of separation anxiety. She was becoming destructive and was almost out of control. By the end of the second week of training, we noticed that she was much calmer and she seemed a lot happier. We can now leave both dogs in the house unattended and all shoes and pillows are safe!

Thanks to JoAnn, we have two calm, obedient German Shepherds. And we’re all happy with that result!

Andy the dog trainer is obviously an expert. We recommend him to anyone that wants a higher caliber of life with their companion dog. Learn to be the pack leader!

Hi Andy,

I just wanted to let you know how happy we are with the improvement in the dogs. Training them is so enjoyable! We are catching the little things, and correcting them right away, and for the first time I can really see the dogs, especially Jersey and Dakota, look at me as their leader.

During feeding Dakota used to growl the whole way through, and all of the dogs would whine and jump. Now we make them wait outside of the kitchen until we gave them the okay, and it was like a miracle. I also put Dakota in a down-stay and the phone rang and I forgot to give her the ok to get up and she didn't budge, it's wonderful! We have had several people come over today and yesterday. They are doing great with not charging the door and have not jumped on anyone even ONCE. They have not barked either. Usually the first hour someone was there, they would bark non-stop.

It's truly amazing what you do, and I am so looking forward continuing the training with them. I did put my number down for a reference, and would be more than happy to tell anyone how wonderful the training was.

First, let me begin by introducing my dog Harley. I met Harley 3 months ago as a stray roaming the streets without a collar or an id chip. I wasn’t looking for a new addition to my family of 2 cats & a very small house, however he was a very promising dog … loving & intelligent. At 65 lbs. & an Akita/ Blond Lab mix I soon realized that I was out of my element (lover/aggressive sort of dog)… as I was used to rescuing & raising smaller breeds. I was immediately struck by his sense of love & protectiveness, however, he also had a very strong aggressive prey instinct for people & animals. I realized very quickly that he was going to be more than I could handle on my own. After extensive internet research, I fell upon the website of “A Canine Academy”. Based on the information that they offered me on their website, I felt comfortable with the type of program that they could offer Harley & I. I contacted JoAnn Bluth (trainer), who came to my house on a regular basis to conduct lessons for the two of us... It wasn’t easy … Harley had apparently spent 1 ½ years in solitude with little human interaction & no animal interaction. He would never go off on JoAnn, or I, however he was impossible to walk & attempted to attack strangers &dogs in my neighborhood… a typical “Code Red” dog … unpredicatable, overly alert, intelligent and unreliable. Between JoAnn, Harley & I, we were able to get him to become a more stable dog, however there was always that fear that he would go off on my cats or on a person, as he had attempted to attack my gardener. It was at that point that JoAnn recommended more strict action. She recommended that I contact her partner, Andy Luper. Andy has had extensive experience in rehabilitating “difficult” dogs, such as Harley. I took him down to the Center for observation. It was recommended that I leave Harley at the Center for 3-4 weeks to undergo full rehabilitation that very day. Honestly, I was not prepared and a bit emotional about leaving my new friend with strangers, however I was left with little option except to leave him or turn him over to a dog shelter. Between Don Duston (lives on site and trainer) & Andy …they returned my dog 3 weeks later. I was nervous & a bit doubtful whether they could rehabite this dog to walk in public, greet other dogs, & not attack my cats. I can say without a doubt, that the dog that they delivered back to me was not in any way the aggressive, cunning dog that I had dropped off to them. It was an AMAZING transformation! Harley now walks at a heel, sits and waits for me as I let guests in the front door, doesn’t attack the cats, or other people or animals, & is entirely a changed dog. Maybe this sounds too good to be true, however … as a disbeliever myself, I am truly amazed at the transition. I am now working with Harley on a daily basis and with great pleasure walking & introducing him to strangers.

We rescued our new lab puppy, Boo Radley, two months ago and quickly found his exuberance overwhelming! When we called Joanne, we were worried that Boo was untrainable. Within 15 minutes, he was a different dog! I'm convinced that my husband and I needed as much (or more) help as Boo and we have learned the skills we need to have a delightful and loving pup! Joanne is a skilled trainer and approached Boo with firmness, love, respect and consistency. After our very first session, we were more confident, more in control and Boo was more respectful of house manners. As we contine with Joanne, she reinforces our good behavior as 'parents' and reinforces Boo's increasingly good manners. I'm honestly not sure we would have survived our new boy without Joanne and recommend her highly to any and all who need a little parental training!

JoAnn exhibits genuine concern for her clients and their dog(s). She is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure quality results ... that's hard to find these days. The lessons are well organized and follow a logical sequence. You and your dog will learn a lot and have fun while you're at it !!

JoAnn trained Katie, my maltese, 8 years ago. I had no idea what to do when I got her at 8 weeks old . I called JoAnn for help. I am so glad I did. In a short time Katie was trained and more than that, I knew how to reinforce the training. Katie is "the perfect dog". Thanks, JoAnn.

We can't express enough the appreciation and respect we have for JoAnn. She not only gave us back control of Junior, but introduced us to the dog and friend we never had! I think she had a bigger job correcting our bad habits than those of the dog's! It was amazing how quickly she gained his attention and respect. We would reccommend JoAnn Bluth to anyone with a canine family member who they can't enjoy to the fullest. You owe it to yourselves and most of all you owe it to your dog to give him or her the best life possible!

JoAnn did an excellent job training us to manage our dog Pookie when she was a puppy last year. Like another reviewer mentioned, she had Pookie under control from the get go. I never saw such a thing before, except on "The Dog Whisperer" show. We still have control of our dog, and are so glad for the training. It was money well spent. We get complements all the time about how well behaved our dog is.

Andy and Don took our newly adopted 2yr-old American Mastiff that no one else in town would help and made him a loving companion foor our family and other dogs. If not for the wonderful staff at A Canine Academy we would probably not be able to keep what has become our most loyal and affectionate friend . No words can explain the grattitude we have, for the job they did, that many trainers in the valley said could not be done.

JoAnn had control of our Rottie puppy the moment she was introduced to him at 11 weeks old. She amazed us from day one. She just doesn't have a "generic method" to train dogs, she uses her skills to train dogs individually based on the dogs behavioral characteristics. She recognizes right away what methods to use on your dog. Baxter is now 1 1/2" yrs. old and over 100 lbs. We are grateful that we found JoAnn. We recieve compliments everywhere we go because he is so obedient. They ask who trained him and we tell them. Hopefully they used her to train their dog. Absolutely will not be disapointed.
Highly recommended.

Andy & Don did wonders with Greta. She was agressive and always barking, but she has calmed down. She still has her moments, but for the most part, she is so much better. I would recommend Andy & Don to anyone any time.

I have known Andy Luper of the Canine Academy for over a decade. He has always had the right answers and is someone I trust to do the best training of anyone I have ever known. Recently, once again I sought his wise counsel before making a decision on a new puppy and was given the best guidance for both my puppy and my family. I highly recommend Canine Academy. You will not be disappointed! Arizona is fortunate to have someone of his breadth and depth of experience!

When we brought our golden retriever home at 10 weeks I knew I wanted to get it right from the very beginning. JoAnn came to our house every week over an 8 week period and did a wonderful job of training us (and I mean us, Daphne was a piece of cake to train but her people... not so much). Daphne quickly turned into a very well behaved little girl and a year and a half later is still much loved by all who see her. She does well in public and people regularly invite her to come along when we visit. JoAnn helped us to become the best dog owners we could be and we reap the rewards everyday with our sweet girl.

JoAnn is an amazing dog trainer, and she is even better at owner training! It has been 3 years since she worked with us and our dog Kirby and even though his personality is still a little crazy he has the best manners of all of his dog friends. One of the highlights for our family has been that when you hire A Canine Academy you get a trainer for life. I have corresponded with JoAnn on numerous issues since our initial training and have never been let down. Don't bother watching the "Dog Whisper" - just call A Canine Academy!

Highly recommended. Our boxer was out of control, aggressive on the leash, didn't' mind. Joann helped us turn him into the dog we thought we would never have. And she helped us see things thru his eyes. We are now enjoying our boxer instead of fighting with him. Worth every penny!!!

JoAnn is an excellent trainer! She took my adopted 4 year old male Chinese Crested into her home for solid 2weeks. Chuy came to my house when he was 2 years old wearing a doggy diaper. I tried everything to house break him; nothing worked. I was at my witts end. My heart was already attached to this little four-legged companion and I could not give him up. When I dropped Chuy off at JoAnn's nice CLEAN FRESH SMELLING house, I expected her to be calling me the next day to come get him. Instead, she sent emails and photos and told me how wonderful he was doing without the doggy diaper. Over one year later, Chuy has not had to wear the doggy diaper at all! I can take him anywhere and feel totally confidant that my dog will behave. Thank you JoAnn! You are a true professional!
Sincerely,
Elyse Willard

I drove from Lake Havasu City to have JoAnn train our Labradoodle, Annie, who was out of control. Annie had her own agenda, which wasn't fitting in with ours! JoAnn's expert training had Annie looking just like a little wind up toy when we returned after just two weeks with JoAnn. I highly recommend JoAnn to anyone who has that "problem dog" or just needs to learn some basic manners! She's #1 in our book!

JoAnn is the best. I only had my puppy a few months and I was already doing all the wrong things and he was beginning to think he was in charge! JoAnn showed me how to easily get him back on track. Now he is devoted to me and my very best friend. His behavior just keeps getting better and better. I now have the tools to stop any behavior he exhibits that I am not happy with. JoAnn also gave helpful advice on toys and food - total pet care! She was extremely professional and did exactly what she said she would do.

JoAnn did an outstanding job with my boxer Baxter, and ME.. :) Even though Baxter had been through several training classes already he was still out of control and I was wondering how she was going to pull off getting us back on track but she did it and I attibute it to her outstanding sense of what goes on in a doggies head. She came to our house, worked with us in our own environment and sat down with me to discuss what my expectations were and how she would accomplish them.. it was great..
She also recommended the proper toys and chew bones (yes, much of what I bought for Baxter to play with was inappropriate) as well as his daily food.
Thanks JoAnn... life in our home is now much better ...

JoAnn is a very knowledgeable excellent dog trainer. She is able to customize to your results that you need, and does so with kindness and a great sense of balance. Combined with nutrition info that will help your dogs sparkle, I can't simply recommend her higher enough for any doggie issues you have, young or old or in-between! (And note, yes, its all about training the parents to a great degree!)
